— Closest to the city
A head spa near Seattle.
If you're searching from a north Seattle neighborhood, the D4 Season studio you want is Shoreline. It sits just over the city line at 15507 Westminster Way N, off Aurora Ave N and a couple of minutes from I-5 — close enough that Northgate, Lake City, Green Lake and Ballard are all an easy drive.
We're Seattle's first specialized head spa, open since 2022, and scalp work is the whole point of the place rather than an add-on to a haircut. That means a real scalp analysis before we start, treatments chosen for your scalp type, and a room set up for quiet — low light, warm towels and a reclining wash chair instead of a bright salon sink.
Because we run by appointment rather than walk-ins, your time slot is yours — no waiting behind a queue, which matters when you've driven in from the city on a weekday.
There's a second D4 Season studio in Lynnwood with the same menu and the same prices, so if you're ever heading north it's there. But for the city itself, Shoreline is the short trip.
For a lot of city guests the appeal is that it's close but doesn't feel like the city. You cross into Shoreline, the pace drops, and a few minutes later you're reclined with warm water running over your scalp instead of idling in traffic on Denny.
— The ritual
What a head spa involves.
A head spa is a professional scalp-and-hair treatment: deep cleansing, scalp care, massage and conditioning, much of it rooted in Japanese scalp-care technique. It leaves your scalp clean and comfortable, and it gives you a rare hour with nothing to do but relax.
A Shoreline session moves from scalp analysis into a treatment matched to your scalp, then a cleansing wash and a slow scalp-and-shoulder massage, before the hydrotherapy step — a warm halo of water over the scalp — and a finishing blow-dry.
It's a genuinely hands-off hour for you. Once the scalp analysis is done there's nothing to manage — and if you came straight from a desk in the city, the shift from screens and traffic to warm water and a quiet room tends to land within the first few minutes.
What a session includes
After the scalp analysis we exfoliate, apply a targeted mask or serum, double-cleanse, and spend real time on the massage, sometimes adding steam or a hair mask. Nothing is rushed, because the pacing is half the reason it works.
First-timers often ask if they need to prep. They don't — arrive with your hair however it normally sits, and we'll cleanse it thoroughly as part of the treatment. If you use a lot of product day to day, that's worth mentioning, not something to wash out first.
Picking a length
The menu opens at a 30-minute TCM Head Aromatherapy and climbs to 90-minute rituals. For a first head spa the 60-minute D4 Signature at $85 hits the sweet spot — full cleanse, full massage, hydrotherapy and a blow-dry.
Who it's for
The treatment adapts to any scalp — oily, dry, flaky or simply tense — and to fine, thick, curly, straight, color-treated or chemically treated hair. Plenty of guests book with no scalp complaint at all; they're here for the massage and the quiet more than anything else.
— The menu
Prices & what you get.
Head spa services run from $50 (30 minutes) to $220 (90 minutes), with the D4 Signature Head Spa at $85 for an hour. The longer bookings add deep cleansing, a mask and more time under the water; the shorter ones lean into aromatherapy and the massage. The full list — identical at both studios — is in the table below.
A lot of the value is simply the chance to slow down. The NCCIH describes a built-in "relaxation response" that counteracts everyday stress, and calls relaxation practices low-risk for healthy people — you can read the neutral background on managing stress. A quiet hour with a long scalp massage fits that description well.
There's a nice overlap with the scalp itself: the Mayo Clinic's self-care guidance for tension-type headaches suggests gently massaging the scalp, temples, neck and shoulders to ease muscle tension. We make no medical claims about our services, but that's the general territory a head spa lives in.
None of that is a promise about outcomes — a head spa is relaxation and scalp care, not medical treatment. But it's a fair description of why an hour of warm water and slow scalp work tends to leave people looser in the shoulders than when they walked in.
— Getting here
Easy from north Seattle.
From the Shoreline studio, most north-end neighborhoods are close: Lake Forest Park, Northgate, Lake City, Green Lake, Ballard and the near-north stretch of Edmonds. It's usually a 15-to-25-minute drive from the city, and roughly 10 miles from downtown Seattle.
If you're coming from further north — Lynnwood, Mill Creek, Mountlake Terrace — our Lynnwood studio may be the quicker stop, and it runs the exact same menu. When you're not sure, book whichever is convenient; you'll get the same treatment at the same price.
The Shoreline studio sits just off Aurora Ave N, an easy turn for anyone coming up 99 or over from I-5, and street-level access means you're not hunting through a mall to find us. Short on time? The 30- and 45-minute services are built for exactly that.
If you're weighing us against a downtown spa, the trade is simple: a slightly longer drive north for a studio that does scalp work and little else, at prices that don't carry a downtown markup. Most city guests decide the twenty extra minutes are worth it once they've tried it.
Plan your visit
We're open Monday–Saturday 10 AM–9 PM and Sunday 10 AM–8 PM. Call (206) 688-9700 to book or reserve online, and get in touch for groups of 5 or more. Want the wider picture first? Browse the head spa hub or compare the best head spa in Seattle North.
Booking for a friend or partner? Gift cards work at either studio, and we can point you to a service length that fits the occasion. For groups of five or more, reach out and we'll sort the timing.
— Make a day of it
Book a head spa near Seattle.
A head spa pairs naturally with the rest of the menu. If your shoulders are tight, add a massage; if you want the relaxation to reach your skin, add a facial. Everything's under one roof at the Shoreline studio, so it's one trip, not three.
To book, choose the Shoreline location, pick a time that works, and let us know anything about your scalp when you arrive. It's a short drive from the city and a long exhale once you're in the chair.
Questions before you book? Call the studio and we'll talk through which service fits — there's no pressure to pick the longest option, and a first visit on the D4 Signature tells you plenty about whether a head spa is for you.
Prefer to gift it? Gift cards are available for both studios and make an easy present for a city friend who never slows down.

— Common questions
Asked & answered.
Where is the closest head spa to Seattle? +
D4 Season's Shoreline studio at 15507 Westminster Way N is the closest of our two locations to north Seattle, just off Aurora Ave N and a short hop from I-5. Our Lynnwood studio is the better choice if you're coming from the north.
How far is the Shoreline studio from Seattle? +
It depends where in the city you start, but from north Seattle neighborhoods it's usually a 15-to-25-minute drive, and roughly 10 miles from downtown. Traffic on Aurora and I-5 is the main variable.
What is the hydrotherapy step in a head spa? +
It's a gentle halo of warm, flowing water that runs over the scalp near the end of the treatment. It rinses everything clean and is the part most guests remember most — deeply relaxing and a little bit theatrical.
How often should I come in for a head spa? +
Many people book every four to eight weeks. The right rhythm depends on your scalp, hair type and lifestyle — if your scalp tends to get oily or flaky between visits, the shorter end usually feels best.
Can a head spa help an itchy or flaky scalp? +
Many of our treatments are designed for dry, flaky or oily scalps and focus on deep cleansing and comfort. A head spa is a wellness treatment, not medical care, so if you have a persistent scalp condition it's worth seeing a dermatologist as well.
What should I wear to my appointment? +
Comfortable clothing is best. We provide beauty robes if you'd like to change so nothing gets damp during the wash and hydrotherapy steps.
Do you offer gift cards? +
Yes. We offer gift cards for both the Shoreline and Lynnwood studios — a head spa makes an easy gift for anyone who spends long days at a screen.
— Research & references
A head spa is, at heart, a scalp massage and a deliberate hour of relaxation. We don't make medical claims about it — for neutral, non-promotional background on the wellness practices it draws on, see the NCCIH on massage therapy , relaxation techniques , managing stress , traditional Chinese medicine and the Mayo Clinic on easing tension headaches . These are general educational references, not statements about our specific treatments. D4 Season is a relaxation and wellness spa, not a medical provider.
