— Why D4 Season
A head spa near Mill Creek.
Mill Creek doesn't have to mean a trek for a proper head spa. Our Lynnwood studio sits just south of the Town Center, a few minutes down the Bothell–Everett Highway, which makes it the natural home base for Mill Creek guests.
What sets a head spa apart is the attention it pays to the scalp itself. Instead of a rushed rinse, you get a considered cleanse that lifts weeks of oil and product, a long scalp-and-shoulder massage, and a hydrotherapy step that feels a little like warm rain. We opened in 2022 as the first specialized head spa in the Seattle area, and that scalp-first focus hasn't changed.
Because a scalp massage is a form of hands-on relaxation, a lot of its value is simply in slowing down. The NCCIH points out that massage has been practiced across cultures for a very long time and that its risk of harm is low when a trained provider does the work — a fair way to think about the calm a head spa is built to deliver.
People who haven't tried a head spa often picture a quick wash-and-go, then find themselves a little disarmed by how restful the real thing is. The lights stay low, the pace stays unhurried, and the whole hour is arranged around your comfort rather than a finished style — which is exactly why so many Mill Creek regulars rebook before they've even left the chair.
— The ritual
What a head spa involves.
At its core, a head spa blends deep cleansing with scalp care, massage and conditioning, with roots in Japanese scalp-care technique. You walk out with a cleaner-feeling scalp and, just as importantly, a clearer head.
A typical visit moves from a scalp reading to a thorough cleanse, then into the massage and hydrotherapy that most guests come back for, before a finishing blow-dry. Some treatments layer in steam, a hair mask or a scalp serum, chosen to match what your scalp needs on the day.
There's a straightforward reason it feels this good: the scalp, neck and shoulders carry a lot of quiet, accumulated tension, and few of us ever give that stretch of the body real attention. A slow, warm, methodical treatment there tends to ripple outward, so the ease you feel afterward isn't only skin-deep — it's the kind of reset that a rushed appointment can never quite deliver.
What the scalp massage feels like
The massage works slowly across the scalp and down into the neck and shoulders — often the exact spots where a long week settles. Paired with warm water and a quiet room, it's the part guests describe as the reason they rebooked. There's nothing forceful about it; if you'd like more or less pressure, just say so and we'll adjust.
Matching the treatment to your time
Sessions run from a 30-minute TCM Head Aromatherapy for a fast reset to 90-minute rituals when you want the whole experience without watching the clock. A 60-minute D4 Signature Head Spa is the middle-ground favorite and a solid first booking. We'll help you choose based on your scalp and how much time you have.
— Menu & pricing
Head spa options and pricing.
Every treatment and price is listed below, and they're the same at both of our studios. Pricing opens at $50 for the 30-minute TCM Head Aromatherapy and reaches $220 for the 90-minute Scalp Revitalize Therapy, with the 60-minute D4 Signature Head Spa at $85.
If you're after deeper cleansing, the 90-minute Purifying Scalp Care ($168) and Floral Head Spa Therapy ($168) go further, while the Aura Scalp Treatment ($110) adds a scalp analysis, serum and blow-dry in 75 minutes. Because tense neck and shoulder muscles can feed everyday head tension — something the Mayo Clinic notes that gentle massage of the scalp, neck and shoulders can help ease — the massage portion is never an afterthought here. Gratuity isn't included.
If you'd like to share the experience, gift cards are available and valid at both studios. And when it comes to choosing a first treatment, there's no need to overthink it — the 60-minute Signature covers the essentials beautifully, and you can always work up to a longer ritual once you know you love it. We're happy to talk it through when you call, whatever your scalp and schedule allow.
— Near you
Areas we serve near Mill Creek.
The Lynnwood studio draws guests from all around Mill Creek — Bothell and Lynnwood just next door, Edmonds a short drive west, and Mountlake Terrace a little farther south. Wherever you're starting from in the area, you're rarely more than a short trip away.
Our Lynnwood address is 18500 33rd Ave W Suite C, and it's the closest option for nearly everyone in Mill Creek. If your day takes you toward Seattle instead, the Shoreline studio at 15507 Westminster Way N Ste 7E runs the same menu at the same prices and hours.
Mill Creek guests tend to fold a head spa into an ordinary errand run, since the Lynnwood studio is only a few minutes off the routes most people already drive. Parking is easy, the hours stretch into the evening, and there's no need to make a production of it — plenty of regulars stop in on the way home and are back before dinner.
Make a day of it
A head spa slots easily alongside our other services — add a massage when your shoulders need it, or a facial to keep the calm going. You can also compare the head spa in Lynnwood or see the whole menu on the head spa hub.
— Plan your visit
Book your head spa near Mill Creek.
Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday 10 AM to 8 PM, so you can slip in a head spa after work or on a slow weekend afternoon. Reserve online or call (206) 688-9700, and let us know if you're planning a visit for five or more.
There's no prep required for a first visit — you don't need to wash your hair or bring a single thing. Come a few minutes early, flag any scalp sensitivity, and settle in. Most guests are back out the door within the hour, feeling noticeably lighter than when they arrived, and more than a few decide on the drive home that this is going to be a regular thing.
One honest note: a head spa is relaxation and scalp care, not medical treatment, and it won't regrow hair or cure a scalp condition. If you have a scalp concern that needs a professional, please see a dermatologist. For everything else — a clean scalp and a genuinely restful hour — we'll be here, a few minutes from Mill Creek.

— Common questions
Asked & answered.
How close is D4 Season to Mill Creek? +
Our Lynnwood studio is just south of Mill Creek, a few minutes down the Bothell–Everett Highway, making it the closest of our two locations. The Shoreline studio is farther south, toward Seattle.
Is a head spa a good idea if my scalp gets oily or flaky? +
Often, yes. Many of our treatments are built around deep cleansing to clear excess oil and product buildup, and several can be adjusted for a dry or flaky scalp. If you have a severe or persistent scalp condition, it's best to check with a professional first.
What is the hydrotherapy step everyone mentions? +
It's a halo of gently flowing warm water over the scalp near the end of the treatment. It rinses and soothes the scalp and tends to be the moment guests remember most — deeply relaxing, and a little unexpected the first time.
How long does a head spa session take? +
Most sessions run 45 to 90 minutes, and our menu also includes a 30-minute option for a quick reset. Longer luxury treatments give the cleanse and massage more room, so you can match the length to the time you have.
Can I get a head spa if my hair is color-treated? +
Yes. Head spas suit straight, wavy, curly, fine, thick and color- or chemically-treated hair, and each session is customized. A standard treatment shouldn't noticeably affect professional color, though very deep cleansing can fade color slightly over time — let us know if yours is recent.
Does a head spa hurt? +
No. It's meant to be gentle and relaxing from start to finish. If your scalp is sensitive or you have any scalp concerns, tell your provider beforehand and we'll keep the pressure comfortable.
What will my scalp and hair feel like afterward? +
Most guests leave with a cleaner, fresher-feeling scalp, softer and smoother hair, less tightness or itchiness, and a general sense of calm. The effect on your mood is often as noticeable as the effect on your scalp.
— Research & references
A head spa is, at heart, a scalp massage and a deliberate hour of relaxation. We don't make medical claims about it — for neutral, non-promotional background on the wellness practices it draws on, see the NCCIH on massage therapy , relaxation techniques , managing stress , traditional Chinese medicine and the Mayo Clinic on easing tension headaches . These are general educational references, not statements about our specific treatments. D4 Season is a relaxation and wellness spa, not a medical provider.
