— Deep cleansing
A deep scalp treatment in Seattle North.
A deep scalp treatment is the head spa you book when your scalp feels heavy — weighed down by oil, sweat, dry shampoo or weeks of styling product. It's less about a quick refresh and more about a thorough reset: clear the buildup, rebalance the scalp, then condition and calm it.
D4 Season runs this deep-cleansing tier at both its north-end studios, Shoreline and Lynnwood, so wherever you are across the north Seattle corridor one of them is a short drive. We opened in 2022 as Seattle's first specialized head spa, and detox-style scalp work is one of the things the studio was built to do well.
The deep-cleansing tier is also the one people book seasonally — after a summer of sunscreen and sweat, or a winter of hats and dry indoor air, when the scalp needs more than a normal wash.
Every deep scalp treatment starts with a scalp analysis under magnification, so the cleanse and the products are matched to how your scalp actually behaves — not a one-size routine. The menu and pricing are identical at both locations.
This tier tends to attract two kinds of guest: people who've had head spas before and want the deepest version, and people whose scalp has quietly gotten heavy — more oil, more flaking, more product than an ordinary wash can shift. Both walk out feeling markedly lighter.
— The ritual
What happens in a deep scalp treatment.
A deep scalp treatment layers extra cleansing steps onto the usual head spa flow. After the scalp analysis comes exfoliation, a clarifying cleanse — sometimes doubled — a targeted serum or mask, a scalp-and-shoulder massage, and the hydrotherapy rinse that leaves the scalp feeling genuinely light.
The higher tiers add more still. Purifying Scalp Care works to lift excess oil and product buildup and finishes with a scalp serum and red LED light; Scalp Revitalize Therapy layers in a double shampoo and conditioning, a steam hair mask and an LED serum infusion with premium products.
Even the most involved of these stays comfortable from start to finish. You're reclined the whole time, the massage threads through the cleansing steps, and the pace never turns rushed or clinical — the deep clean is the goal, but the calm is why most people rebook.
The deep-cleansing steps
Think of it as a proper strip-and-restore. We clear what's sitting on the scalp, then put moisture and comfort back, so you don't leave with a tight, over-cleaned feeling. The massage runs throughout to keep the whole thing relaxing rather than clinical.
We finish by rebalancing rather than just stripping, because an over-cleaned scalp can feel tight and reactive. A conditioning step — and, on the higher tiers, a serum or LED finish — is there to leave the scalp comfortable, not squeaky. Tell us if yours tends to run dry and we'll adjust.
A note on herbs and TCM
Two menu items lean on traditional Chinese ingredients — the Chinese Herb Head Spa and our TCM Head Aromatherapy. Traditional Chinese medicine, as the NCCIH notes, has developed over thousands of years around herbal and physical approaches; we use these as a relaxing, aromatic part of the ritual, and make no medical claims about them.
Who it's for
Deep cleansing is the tier for oily, product-heavy or congested-feeling scalps, and for anyone who leans on dry shampoo and styling product between washes. If your scalp already feels balanced, a standard head spa is usually plenty — we'll say so rather than point you at the priciest option.
— The menu
The deep-cleansing tier.
The deep-cleansing services sit in the upper half of the head spa menu: the Chinese Herb Head Spa ($90, 60 min), the Aura Scalp Treatment ($110, 75 min), Purifying Scalp Care ($168, 90 min) and Scalp Revitalize Therapy ($220, 90 min). If you're new to scalp detox, the Aura Scalp Treatment is an approachable place to start; Scalp Revitalize is the full experience.
Even at its most thorough, this is a wellness treatment, not a medical one. Much of the point is the hour of calm — warm water, a long massage, a quiet room — which independent bodies describe as a low-cost, low-risk way to ease everyday stress; the NCCIH on relaxation techniques is a neutral place to read more. The complete menu, same at both studios, is below.
Frequency is a personal thing. If your scalp runs oily or you use a lot of product, every four to six weeks keeps it feeling clear; if it stays balanced, you might come in less often. We'll suggest a rhythm after the analysis instead of guessing.
If you're deciding between tiers, think about how heavy your scalp feels. A little buildup and the Aura Scalp Treatment is plenty; a lot of product, sweat or oil and the Purifying or Scalp Revitalize services give the cleanse more time and more tools to work with.
— Near you
Across the north end.
Between the Shoreline and Lynnwood studios, the deep-cleansing tier is within reach of north Seattle, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood, Mill Creek and up toward Everett. From the city, Shoreline is usually closer; from Snohomish County, Lynnwood tends to win.
Both studios run the identical deep-cleansing menu at the same prices, so the only real decision is which drive suits your day. Not sure? Book whichever is closer — the treatment doesn't change.
Both studios sit close to the main I-5 corridor, so wherever you start in the north end the drive is usually the easy part. Deep-cleansing services run 60 to 90 minutes, so give yourself a little breathing room in the schedule rather than booking tight against another appointment.
Plan your visit
We're open Monday–Saturday 10 AM–9 PM and Sunday 10 AM–8 PM. Call (206) 688-9700 to book or reserve online, and contact us for groups of 5 or more. For the wider menu, see the head spa hub, or compare a standard scalp treatment in Shoreline.
Buying it for someone else? Gift cards cover the deep-cleansing services at either studio — a good pick for the person who'd never book a scalp detox for themselves. For groups of five or more, get in touch and we'll plan the timing.
— Make a day of it
Book a deep scalp treatment in Seattle North.
A deep scalp treatment pairs well with the rest of the menu when you want a longer reset — add a massage for tight shoulders, or a facial to carry the deep-clean feeling through to your skin. It's all under one roof at both studios.
To book, pick Shoreline or Lynnwood, choose a time, and tell us how your scalp has been behaving when you arrive. You'll leave with a scalp that feels lighter and a head that feels quieter.
Gift cards work for the deep-cleansing services too, at either studio — a good option for someone who'd never think to book a scalp detox for themselves.

— Common questions
Asked & answered.
What is a deep scalp treatment? +
It's a head spa built around deep cleansing — clearing away excess oil, sweat and product buildup, then rebalancing and conditioning the scalp. At D4 Season it pairs scalp analysis, a thorough cleanse, targeted serums or masks, scalp massage and hydrotherapy.
How is a deep scalp treatment different from the signature head spa? +
The signature head spa is a balanced all-rounder. The deep-cleansing tier — services like Purifying Scalp Care and Scalp Revitalize Therapy — spends more time and more product on clearing buildup, and often adds steps like a scalp serum or LED light. It's the choice when your scalp feels heavy or congested.
Which deep-cleansing services are on the menu? +
The deep-cleansing tier includes the Chinese Herb Head Spa ($90), the Aura Scalp Treatment ($110), Purifying Scalp Care ($168) and Scalp Revitalize Therapy ($220). All run 60 to 90 minutes and finish with a blow-dry.
Is a scalp detox right for oily or product-heavy scalps? +
It's a good match. Deep-cleansing treatments are designed to lift excess oil and buildup for a refreshed, comfortable scalp. If you use a lot of dry shampoo or styling product, this is the tier most guests reach for.
Will deep cleansing fade my hair color? +
A standard treatment shouldn't dramatically affect professionally applied color, but deep-cleansing services can cause some fading over time. If your color is recent, let us know and we'll adjust the products and pressure.
How often should I get a deep scalp treatment? +
Many guests come every four to six weeks if their scalp runs oily or product-heavy, and less often if it stays balanced. We'll suggest a rhythm after the scalp analysis rather than guessing.
Where can I get a deep scalp treatment in the north Seattle area? +
D4 Season offers the full deep-cleansing tier at both its Shoreline and Lynnwood studios, which together cover north Seattle, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Lynnwood and up toward Everett. Same menu and pricing at either location.
