— Why D4 Season
Scalp detox in Shoreline.
Let's be clear about the word first: when we say “scalp detox,” we mean a deep, professional cleanse — not a medical procedure, and nothing that pulls toxins from your body. What it removes is the ordinary stuff that builds up on a scalp: excess oil, sweat, and the residue of dry shampoo, mousse and styling products. At D4 Season in Shoreline, that cleanse is the heart of a full head spa.
We're Seattle's first specialized head spa, established in 2022, and our Shoreline studio at 15507 Westminster Way N Ste 7E welcomes guests from Shoreline, north Seattle, Edmonds, Lake Forest Park and Lynnwood. Every treatment is tailored to your scalp and hair, whether it runs oily, dry, fine, thick or color-treated.
If your scalp ever feels coated or heavy by evening, this is the reset that tends to land. And if it doesn't, the massage and warm-water rinse still make it a genuinely relaxing hour.
Because it grew out of our head spa work, the treatment is unhurried by design: quiet rooms, warm water, and hands that take their time. The deep clean is the practical part; the calm is the reason people come back.
— The ritual
What happens during a scalp detox.
The session opens with a scalp analysis, then moves into the purifying cleanse that gives the treatment its name. We work along the scalp and through the hair to loosen and rinse away oil and buildup, in a way an at-home wash rarely manages. After that it becomes a classic head spa — a scalp-and-shoulder massage, conditioning, and a warm hydrotherapy rinse to finish.
Some of our cleansing treatments draw on Chinese herbal ingredients, part of a long tradition of scalp and hair care. Practices like traditional Chinese medicine have used herbal preparations for centuries; we use them here for their cleansing feel and aroma, and we make no medical claims about them. The NCCIH describes relaxation more broadly as a low-risk way to ease everyday stress, which is really what the quiet hour is for.
There's no downtime and no drama to it. You come in, your scalp gets a proper clean, and you leave feeling lighter — that's the whole promise, and we keep it honest.
Beyond the clean itself, a lot of the value is in the slowing down. A long scalp massage under warm water is about as low-effort as relaxation gets — you don't have to do anything but lie there — and most people leave feeling both lighter on top and a little more settled overall. We won't dress that up as a health outcome; it's simply what a quiet hour tends to do.
It also fits easily into a normal day. There's no recovery time and nothing to manage afterward — your hair is cleansed and dried, your scalp feels fresh, and you can head straight back out. That's part of why guests fold it into a lunch break or an errand run rather than saving it for a special occasion.
The cleanse, step by step
Depending on the treatment you choose, the cleanse can include exfoliation, a clarifying wash and a finishing scalp serum. Our Purifying Scalp Care is built entirely around this deep clean across 90 minutes and ends with red LED light; the Chinese Herb Head Spa brings in herbal ingredients, and the D4 Signature folds a thorough cleanse into a tidy 60 minutes.
The part you'll remember
Most guests talk about the hydrotherapy afterward — a soft halo of warm water over the scalp — and the scalp massage that comes with it. It's slow on purpose. The cleanse does the practical work; the massage and warmth are what make the treatment feel like time genuinely off.
— Menu & pricing
Scalp detox options & pricing.
A scalp detox is booked from our head spa menu, since it's a deep-cleansing head spa at its core. The most cleansing-focused option is Purifying Scalp Care at $168 for 90 minutes — deep cleansing plus a scalp serum and red LED light.
For something shorter, the D4 Signature Head Spa is $85 for 60 minutes and the Aura Scalp Treatment is $110 for 75, both including a thorough cleanse and scalp analysis. The Chinese Herb Head Spa ($90) adds a herbal note, and Scalp Revitalize Therapy ($220) is the most complete ritual we offer. Gratuity isn't included, and prices match our Lynnwood studio exactly.
Not sure which fits? Tell us what your scalp's been doing lately and we'll point you to the right length and level of cleanse when you arrive.
If you're between options, a simple rule of thumb: choose Purifying Scalp Care when the goal is the deepest possible clean, and the D4 Signature when you want the full ritual in about an hour. Add-ons like a scalp serum or an LED finish are easy to layer on once we've looked at your scalp.
— Around Shoreline
Areas we serve near Shoreline.
Sitting at Seattle's northern edge, our Shoreline studio is an easy trip for a lot of the north end. Guests come from Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Edmonds, Lynnwood and north Seattle neighborhoods, and the location is quick to reach from Aurora and I-5.
If Lynnwood is nearer to you, it offers the same scalp-detox menu at the same prices, so you can simply pick the shorter drive. First-timers should book ahead — the longer 90-minute cleansing treatments are the ones that fill up, especially on weekends.
Plenty of our Shoreline guests treat this as routine maintenance — a clean every four to eight weeks that keeps the scalp from feeling weighed down between visits. If your scalp runs oily or you use a lot of product, the shorter end of that range usually feels best; if not, once a season may be plenty.
For a group booking of five or more, get in touch and we'll help arrange it.

— Common questions
Asked & answered.
Is a scalp detox the same as a head spa? +
It's a head spa focused on deep cleansing. Every session still includes scalp care, massage and conditioning, but the emphasis is on lifting away oil and product buildup for a fresh-feeling scalp.
What happens step by step? +
We start with a scalp analysis, move through a purifying cleanse and exfoliation, add a scalp-and-shoulder massage, then finish with conditioning and a hydrotherapy rinse. Some treatments add a scalp serum or LED light.
Does the detox remove toxins from my body? +
No, and we won't claim it does. “Detox” here simply describes deep cosmetic cleansing of the scalp and hair — removing oil, sweat and product residue. It's a relaxation and wellness service, not a medical one.
Can a scalp detox make my hair look better? +
A clean, balanced scalp is a good foundation, and many guests notice softer, shinier-feeling hair after a session. We don't promise hair growth — for thinning or loss, please talk to a healthcare professional.
Which Shoreline neighborhoods do you serve? +
Our studio at 15507 Westminster Way N Ste 7E welcomes guests from Shoreline, Seattle, Edmonds, Lake Forest Park and Lynnwood.
Is there any reason to reschedule my appointment? +
Yes — if you have open cuts, a sunburned scalp, or a contagious scalp condition, it's best to wait. If you've had a recent scalp procedure, check with your doctor first.
What will my scalp feel like afterward? +
Most people describe a cleaner, lighter, less itchy scalp and a calm, unwound feeling overall. There's usually no downtime.
How is the Shoreline scalp detox priced? +
The same as Lynnwood — the head spa menu runs from $50 (30 minutes) to $220 (90 minutes), with the deep-cleansing Purifying Scalp Care at $168. Gratuity is not included.
— Research & references
A head spa is, at heart, a scalp massage and a deliberate hour of relaxation. We don't make medical claims about it — for neutral, non-promotional background on the wellness practices it draws on, see the NCCIH on massage therapy , relaxation techniques , managing stress , traditional Chinese medicine and the Mayo Clinic on easing tension headaches . These are general educational references, not statements about our specific treatments. D4 Season is a relaxation and wellness spa, not a medical provider.
