At D4 Season in Lynnwood, we treat “detox” as deep cleansing. It's a thorough, professional clean that lifts away oil, sweat and buildup, followed by scalp massage, conditioning and a warm rinse. It's a wellness service, and we're clear that it isn't a medical treatment.
D4 Season is Seattle's first specialized head spa, established in 2022. Our Lynnwood studio at 18500 33rd Ave W Suite C is an easy stop for guests coming from Bothell, Edmonds and Mill Creek. We customize the treatment to your scalp and hair type: oily or dry, fine or thick, natural or color-treated.
A quick word on what a scalp detox can't do. It won't pull toxins out of your body, and it isn't a cure for hair loss or a scalp condition. What it does is give your scalp a really deep clean and give you an hour to switch off. If you're dealing with significant thinning or a persistent scalp issue, see a dermatologist first.
People come in for different reasons. Some want the deep clean, and some are here for the 45 to 90 minutes of quiet that come with it. Plenty of guests want both.

What happens during a scalp detox.
A scalp detox at D4 Season begins with a look at your scalp, then moves into the part that gives the treatment its name: a deep, purifying cleanse. We work through the hair and along the scalp to loosen and rinse away the oil and product residue that ordinary shampooing at home usually leaves behind. From there it becomes a proper head spa, with a scalp-and-shoulder massage, conditioning, and our hydrotherapy step, where a steady flow of water runs over the scalp.
A scalp massage is still a massage. The NCCIH describes massage as one of the oldest and most common ways people work the body's soft tissue to relax. We build the treatment around that. Once the cleanse has cleared away the buildup, the massage and warm water take over.
It suits just about anyone. If your scalp runs oily, gets flaky in winter, or carries a lot of product, the deep clean usually feels especially good. If none of that applies to you, the massage and warm water still make it a worthwhile hour.
The break itself helps too. You lie back while someone works slowly over your scalp for most of an hour, with warm water and steady hands. You don't have to look at a screen or make a single decision, which is rare on a busy day.
The deep-cleansing step
The purifying cleanse is the core of the treatment. Depending on the option you choose, it can include exfoliation, a clarifying wash, and a finishing scalp serum. Our Purifying Scalp Care builds the whole 90 minutes around this deep clean and adds red LED light at the end. Lighter options like the D4 Signature Head Spa fold a thorough cleanse into a shorter session.
How it differs from a regular wash
The difference from a quick shampoo is time and attention. Nobody's hurrying you, the massage pressure is matched to what you like, and the hydrotherapy rinse is warm and slow. Health bodies such as the NCCIH describe relaxation as a low-cost, low-risk way to ease everyday stress. An hour lying still with your eyes closed is a simple version of that, so we count the calm as part of the treatment.

Because a scalp detox is really a deep-cleansing head spa, you'll book it from our head spa menu. The most cleansing-focused choice is Purifying Scalp Care at $168 for 90 minutes, which pairs deep cleansing with a scalp serum and red LED light. If you want the signature experience, the 60-minute D4 Signature Head Spa is $85. The 75-minute Aura Scalp Treatment ($110) includes deep cleaning, scalp analysis and a finishing serum.
Prefer a herbal angle or the top-tier treatment? The Chinese Herb Head Spa ($90, 60 minutes) leans on Chinese herbal ingredients, while Scalp Revitalize Therapy ($220, 90 minutes) is the fullest treatment we offer. Everything is priced the same at our Lynnwood and Shoreline studios, and gratuity isn't included.
