— Why D4 Season

Scalp detox in Lynnwood.

If your scalp feels heavy by the end of the day — a little oily at the roots, weighed down by dry shampoo and styling product — a scalp detox is the reset a lot of people are actually looking for. At D4 Season in Lynnwood, we treat “detox” as deep cleansing: a thorough, professional clean that lifts away oil, sweat and buildup, followed by scalp massage, conditioning and a warm rinse. It's a wellness ritual, and we're clear that it isn't a medical treatment.

D4 Season is Seattle's first specialized head spa, established in 2022, and our Lynnwood studio sits at 18500 33rd Ave W Suite C, an easy stop for guests coming from Bothell, Edmonds and Mill Creek. Whatever your scalp and hair type, the treatment is customized — oily or dry, fine or thick, natural or color-treated.

A quick word on what a scalp detox is not: it won't pull toxins out of your body, and it isn't a cure for hair loss or a scalp condition. What it does do is give the scalp a genuinely deep clean and give you an hour to switch off. If you're dealing with significant thinning or a persistent scalp issue, a dermatologist is the right first call.

People come in for different reasons. Some want the deep clean; some want the 45 to 90 minutes of quiet that come with it. Most leave with a bit of both.

— The ritual

What happens during a scalp detox.

A scalp detox at D4 Season begins with a look at your scalp, then moves into the part that gives the treatment its name: a deep, purifying cleanse. We work through the hair and along the scalp to loosen and rinse away the oil and product residue that ordinary shampooing at home tends to leave behind. From there it becomes a proper head spa — a scalp-and-shoulder massage, conditioning, and our hydrotherapy step, a gentle halo of flowing water over the scalp.

A scalp massage is, at heart, a form of massage — a practice the NCCIH describes as one of the oldest and most common ways people work the body's soft tissue to relax. We lean into that: the cleanse does the practical work, and the massage and warm water do the unwinding.

It suits just about anyone. If your scalp runs oily, gets flaky in winter, or simply carries a lot of product, the deep clean tends to feel especially good — and if none of that applies, the massage and warm water still make it a worthwhile hour.

The other quiet benefit is simply the pause. Lying back while someone works slowly over your scalp for the better part of an hour is a small, reliable way to step out of a busy day — no screens, no decisions, just warm water and steady hands.

The deep-cleansing step

The purifying cleanse is the core of the treatment. Depending on the option you choose, it can include exfoliation, a clarifying wash, and a finishing scalp serum. Our Purifying Scalp Care builds the whole 90 minutes around this deep clean and adds red LED light at the end; lighter options like the D4 Signature Head Spa fold a thorough cleanse into a shorter session.

Why it feels like more than a wash

What separates this from a quick shampoo is time and attention. Nobody's hurrying, the pressure of the massage is matched to what you like, and the hydrotherapy rinse is warm and slow. Health bodies such as the NCCIH describe relaxation as a low-cost, low-risk way to ease everyday stress, and an unhurried hour with your eyes closed is a simple version of that. We treat the calm as part of the result.

— Menu & pricing

Scalp detox options & pricing.

Because a scalp detox is really a deep-cleansing head spa, you'll book it from our head spa menu. The most cleansing-focused choice is Purifying Scalp Care at $168 for 90 minutes — deep cleansing with a scalp serum and red LED light. If you want the signature experience, the 60-minute D4 Signature Head Spa is $85, and the 75-minute Aura Scalp Treatment ($110) includes deep cleaning, scalp analysis and a finishing serum.

Prefer a herbal angle or the top-tier ritual? The Chinese Herb Head Spa ($90, 60 minutes) leans on Chinese herbal ingredients, while Scalp Revitalize Therapy ($220, 90 minutes) is the fullest treatment we offer. Everything is priced the same at our Lynnwood and Shoreline studios, and gratuity isn't included.

Not sure which to pick? If it's your first visit and you mainly want the deep clean, Purifying Scalp Care is the most direct route; if you'd rather sample the ritual in an hour, start with the D4 Signature. We'll talk it through when you arrive and match the treatment to your scalp on the day.

— Around Lynnwood

Areas we serve near Lynnwood.

Our Lynnwood studio is central to a good part of south Snohomish County. Guests drive in from Bothell, Edmonds and Mill Creek, plus nearby Mountlake Terrace and the Alderwood area, and the location is quick to reach from the I-5 and I-405 corridors.

If you're closer to north Seattle, our Shoreline studio offers the identical scalp-detox menu, so you can pick whichever is the shorter trip. For a first visit it's worth booking ahead — the longer 90-minute cleansing treatments are popular on weekends. Planning a group? Contact us for parties of five or more.

Because both studios share one phone line and one menu, you never have to guess whether a treatment or a price differs by location — it doesn't. The only real question is which drive is shorter for you.

One more thing worth knowing: because a scalp detox is a cosmetic, feel-good treatment rather than a clinical one, there's no recovery to plan around. You can come on a lunch break or before dinner and carry on with your day — hair blown out, scalp clean, nothing to fuss over afterward.

— Plan your visit

Book your scalp detox in Lynnwood.

We're open Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday 10 AM to 8 PM. You can reserve a scalp detox online through our Lynnwood booking page, or call (206) 688-9700 if you'd like help choosing between the cleansing options.

Making a longer visit of it? A scalp detox pairs naturally with a massage when your neck and shoulders are tight, or a facial to carry the relaxation to your skin. You can also browse the full head spa menu, compare a focused scalp treatment in Lynnwood, or check the scalp detox in Shoreline.

Gift cards are available too, if you'd like to hand someone an hour of quiet. Whatever you choose, the aim is the same: you walk out with a scalp that feels clean and light, and a head that feels a little clearer.

— Common questions

Asked & answered.

What does “scalp detox” actually mean here? +

For us it means deep cleansing — clearing away excess oil, product residue and buildup so the scalp feels fresh and light. It's a cosmetic, wellness treatment, not a medical detox, and we don't make health claims about it.

Which treatment is the deep-cleansing option? +

Our Purifying Scalp Care (90 minutes, $168) is built around deep cleansing, with a scalp serum and red LED light to finish. The D4 Signature Head Spa and Aura Scalp Treatment also include a thorough cleanse.

Will a scalp detox help with an oily or flaky scalp? +

Deep cleansing can lift away the oil and buildup that leave a scalp feeling heavy or flaky, and many guests say their scalp feels lighter afterward. For persistent or severe scalp conditions, it's best to see a dermatologist.

How long does it take and how often should I come? +

Sessions run from 30 to 90 minutes depending on the treatment. Many guests come every four to eight weeks; if your scalp gets oily quickly, the shorter end of that range tends to feel best.

Do I need to wash my hair beforehand? +

No — come as you are. We prefer to look at your scalp in its natural state and cleanse it thoroughly during the treatment.

Is it relaxing, or just a cleaning? +

Both. Alongside the cleanse there's a long scalp-and-shoulder massage and a warm hydrotherapy rinse, which is the part most guests remember. It's designed to feel like an hour of genuine downtime.

Will it affect my color-treated hair? +

A standard treatment shouldn't noticeably affect professionally applied color, though deep cleansing may cause slight fading over time. If your color is fresh, let us know so we can adjust.

Is a scalp detox suitable for all hair types? +

Yes. We customize the treatment for straight, wavy, curly, fine, thick, color-treated or chemically treated hair, and for oily, dry or sensitive scalps.
