What you are actually booking when you search this.
The phrase scalp massage covers a few different things. It can mean a few minutes at a shampoo bowl during a haircut. It can mean a short add-on at the end of another treatment. Here it means neither of those.
At D4 Season the scalp massage is the appointment. You are not attaching it to something else. You pick a session, you pick a time, and a therapist is held for you. We work by appointment only.
The shortest scalp session on our menu is the TCM Head Aromatherapy. It runs 30 minutes and costs $50. It is a head massage focused on relaxation, with a calming lavender / peppermint aromatherapy blend. Longer options sit on the head spa menu.
What we do not have
There is no 15-minute scalp massage on our list. There is no walk-in version either. Those are add-on formats, and this is not an add-on.
— The floor
Why the shortest option is thirty minutes.
Fifteen minutes works as an add-on because you are already in the chair. Nothing has to be booked around it. Nobody has to set up a room for you or plan the time.
A standalone appointment works differently. You arrive, you get settled, and the session starts from there. Thirty minutes is the shortest length that still leaves real massage time once all of that is done.
Thirty minutes also fits inside a break in the day. Sixty minutes does not, for most people. If your calendar is the tight part, the 30-minute TCM Head Aromatherapy at $50 is the session that fits it.
How the half hour is spent
The half hour is the massage. Your therapist works on your head for the length of the booking. We do not split that time across other steps.
— The session
What the thirty minutes includes.
The TCM Head Aromatherapy is a head massage focused on relaxation. It uses a calming lavender / peppermint aromatherapy blend designed to ease tension. That is how the menu describes it, and we will not add to it.
The menu lists no shampoo step for this one, so ask at booking if that matters to you. It also lists no hydrotherapy. Hydrotherapy is warm water flowing gently over the scalp, and only three head spa sessions include it.
The blend is written on the menu as one blend, not as a choice between two scents. If scent matters to you, raise it when you call and we will answer then.
Shoulders are not part of it
The 30-minute session stays on the head. Upper shoulder work belongs to the longer head spa sessions. Body treatments sit on our massage menu instead.
— If you want more
When thirty minutes is not the right size.
Some people want the massage plus a cleanse, a wash and a blow-dry. That is a different booking. The 60-minute step up is the D4 Signature Head Spa at $85. It adds a scalp cleanse, a shampoo and conditioner treatment, an upper shoulder massage, hydrotherapy and a blow-dry. The hydrotherapy head spa page covers the three sessions that include the water step.
One question sorts most bookings. Do you want your hair handled today, or only the massage? If it is only the massage, the 30-minute session is the right size. If you want the long version, read about the 90-minute Luxury Head Spa.
Starting with the short one
Thirty minutes is the smaller commitment. It shows you whether you like the format. You can book something longer next time.
— Book it
A short booking that stays short.
A 30-minute appointment only helps if the trip around it is short too. Our Lynnwood studio is at 18500 33rd Ave W Suite C.
That matters more for this session than for any longer one. You park, you walk in, and the massage starts. There is no garage to drive through and no long walk at either end. Half an hour on the menu stays close to half an hour of your day.
We are appointment only, so call (206) 688-9700 or pick a time on our booking page. Groups of five or more should call ahead. Gratuity is not included. Studio details sit on the Lynnwood studio page.

How the 30-minute scalp massage fits into a day
Four steps, in the order they actually happen.
- 1 Decide it is the massage you want This session is the head massage on its own. If you also want your hair washed and dried, book a longer head spa session instead.
- 2 Book the TCM Head Aromatherapy It runs 30 minutes and costs $50. It is the shortest scalp session we list. Call (206) 688-9700 or book online, since we take no walk-ins.
- 3 Ask your two questions on the call The menu lists no shampoo step for this one, so ask at booking if that matters. Ask about the aromatherapy blend at the same time.
- 4 Park outside and walk in The lot sits right outside the door in Lynnwood, so you can arrive close to your start time and leave close to the end of it.

— Common questions
Asked & answered.
Is the TCM Head Aromatherapy the same thing as a head spa?
+
No. The TCM Head Aromatherapy is a 30-minute head massage focused on relaxation, with a calming lavender / peppermint aromatherapy blend. A head spa session runs longer and adds steps such as a scalp cleanse, a shampoo and conditioner treatment and a blow-dry. You can compare every length on our head spa menu.
Is there a 15-minute scalp massage?
+
No. Thirty minutes is the shortest scalp session on our menu. Very short head massages are normally add-ons to another service. Here the scalp massage is booked on its own, so we start at half an hour. Our guide library explains how the sessions differ.
Does the 30-minute scalp massage include hydrotherapy?
+
No. The TCM Head Aromatherapy is a massage session, and hydrotherapy is not part of it. Only three treatments on our head spa menu include the warm-water step. Our hydrotherapy head spa page names all three and explains how to book one.
What scent is used in the 30-minute session?
+
The menu lists a calming lavender / peppermint aromatherapy blend designed to ease tension. It is written as one blend, not as two options you pick from. If scent matters to you, bring it up when you book and we will answer then.
If I book 30 minutes, how much of my day does it take?
+
Not much more than the 30 minutes. Parking at the Lynnwood studio is a surface lot right outside the door, so there is no garage to drive through and no long walk. Arrive a little early for your first visit, since you will not have been in the space before.
Is gratuity included in the $50?
+
No. Gratuity is not included in any price on our menu, including the TCM Head Aromatherapy at 30 minutes for $50. You can add it however you prefer at the end of your appointment. The listed price is the price of the session itself.
Can I buy the 30-minute session for someone else?
+
Yes. Gift cards are available and can be used toward any session on the menu, including this one. The person you give it to books their own time. You can read more on our Lynnwood gift card page.
