What a gua sha facial really is.
A gua sha facial uses a smooth stone instead of hands alone. Your esthetician applies a little facial oil to your skin first. Then the stone travels across your skin in slow, repeated strokes. Each stroke follows one line, from the center of your face outward.
Gua sha is a traditional East Asian technique. People have used smooth stones on the face and body for hundreds of years. Our version keeps the method simple and slow. On our menu it is the Guasha Lifting Facial, and it comes in three lengths.
The stone is polished and cool to the touch. Its curved edges sit flat against the shape of your face. Nothing about it is sharp. If you have tried gua sha at home, this is the same idea done with more time.

What each length gives you.
The Guasha Lifting Facial comes in three lengths. Guasha Lifting Facial 30 min is $70, the 45 min is $90 and the 60 min is $130. The stone work itself is the same in all three. What changes is how much area we cover and how long we stay in one place.
Longer is not automatically better. The 30-minute version still does real work on a lunch break. Compare it with everything else on our facial and skin care menu.
30 and 45 minutes
The 30-minute facial stays on your face. Your esthetician cleanses your skin, then works it in sections, and each section gets several slow passes. It fits into a weekday break without any rush.
The 45-minute facial adds your neck and gives every pass more time. Choose it when your neck feels tight after long days at a desk.
The full 60 minutes
The hour is the complete version. You get your full face, then your neck, then a mask at the end while you rest. There is time for a slower cleanse first and a proper finish afterwards.
Book the hour when the visit is the point of your day. It suits a weekend, when you are not watching the clock.

How it feels, and what comes after.
The strokes are slow and they repeat along the same lines. The room stays quiet, so you can close your eyes and rest. You should never feel a scrape or a pinch. Say so right away if the pressure feels too firm.
Straight afterwards your skin usually looks smoother and a little brighter. A light flush is normal and it settles within about an hour. Makeup goes on easily the same day, so this works before dinner or photos.
Take it easy for the rest of the day. Drink some water and keep your evening skincare short. Skip strong scrubs and acids for a day if your skin feels sensitive.

What a gua sha facial does not do.
We would rather be clear than oversell. The smooth, fresh look after gua sha is real, and it is temporary. It tends to hold for a day or two. After that your skin goes back to its usual state.
A gua sha facial does not lift muscle or change the shape of your face. It is a skincare and relaxation treatment. It is not medical care, and it does not replace advice from a doctor. How to book your gua sha facial.
You can book your gua sha facial at the D4 Season studio in Lynnwood, where a licensed esthetician performs it. If your week is flexible, book a Tuesday. The Tuesday Special runs the 30-minute version at $50 and the 60-minute version at $99, instead of $70 and $130. We work by appointment only, so please book ahead. There is one booking that puts face work and scalp work in the same visit. The Signature Head Spa & Guasha Facial is 90 minutes for $150. Ask for it by name when you book. The rest of the head spa menu is worth a look first.

Your Guasha Lifting Facial, step by step
Here is how the Guasha Lifting Facial runs. Your esthetician explains each part as you go, so nothing catches you off guard.
- 1 1. Tell us about your skin We start with a short chat. Mention the products you use at home, especially retinol or acids. Say so if your skin reacts easily. Your esthetician then sets the oil and the pressure for your skin that day.
- 2 2. Cleanse, then oil Your esthetician cleanses your face so the stone can glide. A light facial oil goes on next. The oil is what keeps the stone from pulling or dragging on dry skin.
- 3 3. The slow stone passes This is the main part of the treatment. Your esthetician moves the stone through one section at a time, always from the center outward. Every line gets several passes. At 45 and 60 minutes your neck is included.
- 4 4. Mask, finish, and out the door The 60-minute version ends with a mask while you rest. Every length finishes with the extra oil wiped away. You can go straight back to work or on to your evening.

Does the stone scratch or drag on the skin?

It should not. The oil keeps the stone gliding across your skin rather than dragging. The edges are smooth and curved, so nothing feels sharp. The pressure stays light and even from start to finish. Tell your esthetician right away if any part feels too firm, and we will lighten it.
How long does the fresh look last?

It is temporary, and we would rather say so plainly. Smoother, brighter-looking skin tends to hold for a day or two after the visit. After that your skin settles back to how it usually looks. Book your Guasha Lifting Facial the day before an event if you want it at its best.
Will my face look flushed afterwards?

A light flush is normal, and it usually settles within about an hour. It comes from the steady strokes on your skin. Makeup goes on easily the same day. Book Guasha Lifting Facial 30 min at $70 if you have a meeting straight after your appointment.
Can I book a gua sha facial if my skin is sensitive?
